My food story.
Your lived experiences shape the paths you go down. I had eczema from birth, along with many allergies. Pets, citrus fruits, pollen. Then, as a teenager, I had the very bad luck of getting cyanide poisoning from an old almond in a cake - which completely messed up my gut. And so I experienced more and more food sensitivities, along with rashy, spotty and itchy skin. This puzzled all the dermatologists I asked for help, who gave me steroid and anti-fungal creams. Nothing helped.
I really wanted to understand what was happening. I suspected that what I was seeing on the outside, was coming from the inside.
I did a lot of reading and listening, and worked with a very knowledgeable Nutritional Therapist. And my skin changed from angry to happy in 4 months. This surprised and excited me so much that I decided to throw myself into nutritional therapy studies and completely change my work path (from helping brands grow in Africa - my other love) - to help others with their skin struggles.
Following an intense 3 year diploma at the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION) in London UK, where I gained a Distinction, I understood my own skin struggle history - and I was able to get back to balance, supporting my skin from the inside and the outside.
I now have the absolute joy of helping others in finding solutions to their skin struggles - that work in real life. I use nutrition, lifestyle and mindset as the building blocks for my advice and bring new scientific discoveries into my practice every day. If you would like to book a free 15 minute discovery call, to find out more about how I work and how I can help you go to Save your skin.
In my practice, my interest in sustainable food choices has grown over time, based on my own desire to make an impact and from questions my clients are asking. This has been the spark for the Foodproof transformation system, through which I help organisations to create a happier, healthier and more sustainable workplace.
